Why You Need to See ‘The Fall Guy’ at a Dolby Cinema

When it comes to summer blockbusters, there’s so many choices in terms of formats which you can see big films in. IMAX is wonderful. D-Box is a hoot! But admittedly, sometimes you just want the most crisp picture quality and the best and most brilliant sound imaginable. And that’s where Dolby Cinema comes in. If you haven’t tried one out yet, there’s no better opportunity to do so than this weekend when you see The Fall Guy (and trust me, you really should see it!).

The Fall Guy is hitting theaters this weekend, and let me tell you, it was such a blast! From the amazing soundtrack, and the genuine charisma and laughs from Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, there’s so many reasons to see this charmer. But the biggest, and perhaps greatest reason to see it, are the amazing, bone crunching, explosively brilliant, death-defying, record breaking stunts! The stunt work in this movie is so spectacular. It’s truly everything we go to the movies for. And to immerse yourself in that spectacle takes the highest quality imaginable.

I recently had the opportunity to see the movie for my first time in a Dolby Cinema that was equipped with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. And I can honestly say, it was the way to go for this one. Dolby Vision complements Leitch’s direction beautifully, because the cinematography and the colors he uses throughout the movie demand a format that can highlight each visual element as crisply as possible. For instance, there are several explosion scenes set in a desert of brilliant beiges, complimented by the dark orange and yellow hues of the flames during both the record breaking cannon roll scene, and the exciting climax of the film. With Dolby Vision, you can actually see the vivid details of each scene and color in a way that conventional formats and resolutions.

Additionally, you can’t talk about Dolby without talking about what they’re known for the best: their amazing sound quality. They’ve taken their talents there to a new level with Dolby Atmos, which allows theaters to distribute sound all around a single cinema; behind you, beside you, and above you. This means that you’re essentially immersed in the sound being projected from the screen, allowing you to hear every bone crunch and glass shatter as if you were really in the movie. And let me tell you, you’ll want that for The Fall Guy because the sound mixing in this movie is incredible! Engines rev up around you! There’s a nightclub scene and several fist fights where every punch laid on a bad guy emits a hard hitting smack! Bottles break and bullets whizz by you, all while you’re sitting in a comfortable chair in an air conditioned theater. The theater I went to was huge! But the sound quality was so excellent, it felt like I was right there in the middle of the action, despite how spread out every seat was.

THE FALL GUY, directed by David Leitch

In short, movies like The Fall Guy are the reason theaters exist. They allow us to escape the decent but limited confines of what a home theater can really offer, because the technology and the budget spent on setting up the environment of a Dolby Cinema at your local AMC is so much more involved and dedicated to bringing a movie to life around you. And while other theatrical formats are terrific too, the high definition quality of Dolby Vision make the visuals of The Fall Guy truly pop, and when combined with the elaborate immersion of Dolby Atmos sound, the adventure and action truly come to life in spectacular ways that are worth the price of a movie ticket.

Keep cinema alive folks! Go see The Fall Guy in theaters this weekend, with the best visual and audio quality imaginable: Dolby Cinema!
